- My scale pads are reading light (or heavy). What can I check?
Rebco electronic wheel scales have a battery pack that is fully charged when they leave the factory. Sometimes a battery can lose its charge while it is sitting idle on the shelf and when discarded, give an inaccurate reading. We suggest you plug in the AC adapter and let the unit charge for at least four to five hours. Once the battery is fully charged, reconnect the control box to the pads, zero the pads and place the vehicle back on the pads.
NOTE: If you have KART pads and are getting a light reading, BE SURE you have removed the shipping screws from the outer edge of each pad.
- I charged my battery pack, but I'm getting the same false reading. What should I check next?
If the control box uses an AC adapter, use a voltmeter to make sure that the unit is putting out between 13 & 14 volts. If you observe a low reading, replace the AC adapter and charge the battery pack. If your battery will still not hold a charge, replacement battery packs are available directly from the factory.
- One scale pad is giving an inaccurate reading. What should I check?
First, we must determine if the problem is in the scale pad or in the control box. Unplug the cable from the suspect pad and plug it into a scale pad that you know is reading ok. Now plug the cable from the good pad into the pad you are having problems with. Does the weight still read inaccurate on that pad? If the answer is YES, there is a problem with the load cell in the pad. If the answer is NO and the problem transferred to the other pad, then the problem lies inside the control box or cable. Once you have determined the problem, contact our factory for the proper procedure to follow before sending the part to the factory.
- How long will the charge last on my scale battery?
Several conditions can affect the length of time a battery holds its charge. Typically, a normally functioning battery can be used in the field for approximately four or five hours before charging is required. However, if you have access to a 110AC outlet, we recommend that you use it each time. That way you ensure that the battery is fully charged when you are in a remote location.
